Dark, twisted and wickedly funny, A.k.a. Eat the Runt is a gritty theatrical comedy exploring artistic obsession, bruised egos and the dangerous lengths people will go to for recognition.
Written by Robert Riechel Jr., the play follows Buck Lone, a struggling playwright whose dreams of theatrical greatness come crashing down when his latest masterpiece is savaged by a local newspaper critic known as “The Man”. Fuelled by rage, cocaine and an inflated sense of his own genius, Buck and his unpredictable girlfriend, Hammer, decide to take revenge by kidnapping the critic. But their captive has a sinister agenda of his own, setting the stage for a chaotic and increasingly dangerous battle of wills.
Raw, provocative and packed with dark humour, A.k.a. Eat the Runt is a compelling character study of three deeply flawed individuals whose ambition, desperation and destructive decisions threaten to unravel everything.
