There was no cherry chapstick, a hot pink car took it’s place! The KIIS the Car on Chapel promotion was a cheeky stunt put together by KIIS 101.1 and the Chapel Street Precinct Association.
Anyone in Melbourne could enter, either by listening to KIIS 101.1, or by finding the car on Chapel Street, taking a selfie and posting it to Instagram with #KIISTheCarOnChapel.
10 finalists were chosen to compete in the ultimate KIISout for a brand new Honda Jazz. After a short 40 minutes, only two remained for the lengthy 2.5 hours it took for the winner to finally claim his prize!
Do you think it was too easy? Think again! The rules were strict. No moving, no removing of the lips and to top it all off it was a FREEZING Summer morning in Melbourne. The finalists were also lured off of the car with prizes that included a $1000 gift card for Priceline Pharmacy, $1000 worth of Tony Bianco shoes and a year’s worth of Royal Treatments from Kings Domain Barbers.
In the end, a Chapel Street local claimed his victory and the crown of best kisser on Chapel Street!
“I just really wanted to give that car a kiss, so I came down here and then two and a half hours later I won it!” he joked.
“But honestly it was really hard, I had no feeling in my fingers and I was going to give up five minutes later but luckily I stayed the distance.”
The Chapel Street Precinct Association Marketing and Events Director, Ms Chrissie Maus was thrilled with KIIS the Car on Chapel, and can’t wait to think up the next big promotion.
Ms Maus said “Chapel Street can be uniquely cheeky in our marketing campaigns. We’re not bound by the traditional marketing rules that our competitors follow, so we can think creatively and be unapologetically bold to get the best cut through for our retailers.”
