F45 classes are 45 minutes of High Intensity Interval Training, 45 seconds on, 15 seconds off – mixing strength and cardio, to give you an all round workout that’s probably a better option than a cheeky beer on your lunch break.
There’s a reason you see it all over your Instagram and Facebook. It works. Whether you want to pack on some lean muscle, rip up or hit the d/floor without having to catch your breath every few minutes – get on board the F45 train. If it’s good enough for Hugh Jackman and Mark Wahlberg, it’s good enough for you.

Only got half an hour? The Japanese Tabata is where it’s at. 20 seconds of work (as easy as push ups or sprints) followed by 10 seconds of rest. Do that another 7 times and move onto the next exercise station – 6 workout stations all up, and you’re done. Now, I’m no mathematician, but that’s a 32 minute workout.
High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) isn’t just quick – it’s effective, awesome for building lean muscle, a thousand times better than running on a treadmill for an hour (percentage not accurate, but you get it) and the best bit? You’ll keep burning fat for hours, so you won’t feel guilty smashing that ice-cream on the couch after dinner tonight.
Level 2/670 Chapel Street South Yarra
Unlike F45 which uses everyday functional movement (ie. things you do in every day life) for a set period of time. Crossfit is more random, fast paced movements using Olympic lifting and gymnastic style movement, focusing on a set number of reps.
How can you tell if someone does Crossfit? Don’t worry, they’ll tell you. And so they should. Strength, size and cardio – if that’s what you’re after, you’ll be telling people you do Crossfit before you know it.
56 Porter Street, Prahran
Balance, endurance, strength, spirituality, and some really physical movement – your typical Yoga sesh is a 60 minute ordeal that will challenge your mind, body and soul.
The most common question – ‘What’s the biggest difference between Yoga and Pilates?’. Yoga is purely body weight. Classes can either be mind nourishing or ‘full marathon in a sauna style’ challenging. It’s also amazing for that old footy injury (or the stress that someone will find out the ‘footy injury’ is actually from a Wednesday night mixed netball game at South Yarra Sports Centre).
2/22 Cecil Place Prahran
For the mind, body & health approach to #fitspo Kaya Health Club in Prahran is exactly what you’re looking for. Especially come savasana time, do you feel me?

The days of living lacklustre lives in our residential boxes are (thankfully and hopefully) over. While our newfound freedom is oh-so-sweet, it feels like mere months ago that we were hanging out for the day when we could look back and laugh about the perils of lockdown. This is that day. Get an eyeful of some long-gone and relatable iso moments below. Today, getting off your couch means going further than the fridge and back to Chaps.
“Arrivederci Italy, Ciao Chapel Street!” Much loved radio personality and comedian Kate Langbroek has returned from Italy to rediscover her one true amore, Melbourne’s iconic Chapel Street Precinct, which has seen a post lockdown renaissance of booming business over summer. Langbroek has stitched the words ‘Support Local’ on her sleeve, making unexpected visits to many Chapel Street Precinct businesses.
Right now, it’s black and white. Please support your local faves now or they may not be around for much longer. We know this time is strained for almost everyone, so when it comes to buying food, clothes or any shopping you need doing, just think TWO WORDS. SUPPORT LOCAL. With your support, they’ll get through this. It’s now or never.
Now that the afternoons and evenings have heated up and we’ve shredded our iso grumps, it’s time for summer afternoons and glasses of wine in the sunshine. Luckily for ya’ll, we know the outdoor dining and beer garden hot spots, where the drinks and meals are tasty and good times ensue.
