Forget this ‘new year, new me’ bs. In 2018 we’re going to be the same ol’ bad-asses we’ve always been. Perhaps even badder.

We’ve been thinking a lot about new year resolutions, and how the passing of another year on Earth somehow seeps into us the notion that we need to be thinner, stronger, wiser, more sustainable, less Instagram obsessed, more aware and overall – be better people. In 2018 we’ve decided that we’re not falling for it. You can keep your NY resolutions – we’ve got our own anti-resolutions.

Keep your diet. We’re loving ourselves the way we are

There’s something absolutely horrid about the thought of counting calories. Just thinking about adding up macros makes us want to ugly cry. And giving up Gelato Messina or dumplings? That’s enough to tip us over into full blown Amanda Bynes circa 2013.  We’re dropping the use of the word ‘diet’ all together. It’s now banned from our vocab & being replaced by sweet little musings like healthy, fulfilling, sustaining, beautiful, thankful and don’t forget delicious.

We’re learning to love our strong, capable bodies. We’re eating what makes us feel good. Be that a kale salad, or a doughnut. And ya know what, if our jeans ain’t fitting – we’re just going to get another pair.

We’re saying goodbye to guilt

There are too many things to feel bad about. The money we spend, if we’re shopping local, sustainable or cruelty free. If we’re exercising, or how we’re exercising. Are we standing up for the right causes?  We’re not where we should be in our careers. That last insta post didn’t get enough likes. Why did we buy that smashed avo? We’ll never be able to afford a house now.

This year we’re going to keep shopping, exercising, supporting, keeping at our hustles and enjoying our smashed avo – just without the guilt if we go a little astray. We sure as hell deserve it.

We’re exploring

Laneways, street art, new stores, cafes and bars. Especially the hidden kind. We’re exploring menus, new dishes and cuisines. We’re exploring new work-outs and scary looking machines at the gym. But we’re also going to allow ourselves to explore more Netflix, more daydreams and more of doing nothing. Because 2017 flew passed way too fast and we didn’t do enough of nothing with a glass of chilled rosé in our hands.
