In Melbourne for a quick in & out or a long lie in? Here’s a snappy list of places to rest your sweet head on Chapel Street!
Bold, flamboyant and splattered with original Adam Cullen artwork, The Cullen is the cool kid on the block. Honest, you’ll add an extra digit to your ‘cool’ appeal just by walking through the doors. If you’re extra sneaky, you can even sneak your pup in with you for extra cool points… (But don’t tell them I said that)
This place is hard to find! In fact, I’ve walked passed the front door about 100 times and never caught on to what this little nook was. The ‘Saint’ isn’t what you’d expect from a typical Airbnb. No hard strung student funding happy hours by renting out their bed or semi-retired mum playing hostess in the over-decorate spare room. This is a Millennial’s dream. Modern, with the soul of a heritage victorian building and an online presence that is so quiet, you’d think they were trying to keep this place a secret.
That pool though. You know the one. Glass bottomed and usually filled with smug holidaymakers floating on their superiority. Well guess what, YOU can be that smug sucker floating around without a care in the world. The Olsen is a little more than just that pool though. Arty, creative and may I say, sophisticated? Staying at the Olsen is like a little treat for the soul, a stay that is filled with space, world class art and complete luxury.
Black marble ensuites, rubber duckies and 111 rooms that even Kanye would approve of. While The Como is a little on the safe side, it has everything that you need for a damn good stay in South Yarra.
As a part of the Sofitel group, you’d expect all of goodies that comes with an internationally renowned hotel empire – what you wouldn’t expect is the ROOFTOP pool. You could safely lounge away all day here, until it’s time to go shopping of course.
Want to feel like a local? Stay like one. L’Emporia Apartments are set in a semi-residential building in Prahran.
1 & 2 bedroom apartments come with kitchens big enough to roast the Christmas ham. The location is tops, step out of the front door and across the road to Prahran Market for fresh food or tasty treats.
Airbnb is at it again! The Love & Lewis building on Chapel Street has had a few past lives, most notably as THE place to shop on Chapel Street for well to do Melbournian’s of the 1920’s. Now, it’s hot property and lives again as an apartment building for (surprise, surprise) well to do Melbournian’s… and you!
Multi layered and extravagantly decorated, spend a few nights here to soak up all that this eclectic apartment has to offer during your ‘stay-cation’. Colourful walls, deep toned brick and big expansive windows.
Super sleek with everything that you need, the District Apartments in South Yarra are perfect if you’re escaping the house with a few friends in tow. The 1- 3 bedroom apartments are set just of Chapel Street and handy to some of the best cafe’s in the south. You won’t have to travel far for a cheeky afternoon bevvy either.
Apartment style accommodation with SO MUCH ROOM. Right in the heart of the Chapel Street Precinct you could take a morning stroll up to the Yarra and loop back via Adriano Zumbo Cafe for a morning croissant (or two). Not from around here? Grab a coffee from Two Birds, One Stone & vow to never drink bad coffee again.
Hey, sharing a room with a whole bunch of strangers may not be for everyone. But if you’re little brother is pinching his pennies & needs a place to crash, this place is a winner. Back of Chapel is based in a renovated terrace house in the thick of Windsor. Windsor has most definitely bumped itself up a few notches over the years and is now THE place to be, or be seen. It’s prime partying territory and the next morning you’ll find coffee that will cure even the deadliest of hangovers. My tip? Head straight to School of 7 Bells, they’ll fix you right up.
WIN a $100 GIFT VOUCHER to use at Chapel Precinct’s Champion Salon on Greville Street. Bat Your Lash are giving away $100 worth of services to celebrate winning the title of Champion Salon in this years Chapel Champion Awards.
If you’ve never taken a trip to Greville Street, you’re seriously missing out. This petite Prahran street leads you gently from the hustle of Chapel Street, into a warm village of boutique makers, retailers & artists.
I braved my first Pole Dancing class at Pole Divas Prahran and I was really (dare I say it?) feeling myself. Prepared to feel uncomfortable, thankfully, my awesome older sister was eager (you can see why she’s the oldest) to join me for our first experience with the pole.
Enjoy a meal at everyone’s favourite neighbour, Melbourne Bowling Club, featuring mulit-award winning Chef Pierre Khodja with an incredible French-Algerian inspired menu.
