Victorians living in Metro Melbourne and Mitchell Shire will now have to wear a mask (or face covering) whenever they are leaving their homes for essentials only in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.
Premier Daniel Andrews announced that the new rule advised by the Chief Health Officer would apply from 11.59 pm July 22.
Face coverings like a scarf, or handkerchief, or bandana are also acceptable and reusable masks are as good as disposable ones.
