Not only is it still Negroni Week but today barflies have cause for double the celebration: Happy World Gin Day!
Have you seen Tyranny of Distance‘s recent transformed from an all-day cafe to more of evening bar and bite affair yet? Here’s a good excuse to visit! They are offering a trio of cocktails that sound delicious and let different gins shine so you can find your favourite. There’s a Plymouth Sour, a Bombay Bramble and a Hendrick’s Cucumber Cooler.

At Rufus they are subscribing to Winston Churchill’s mantra, “I would like to observe the vermouth from across the room while I drink my gin martini”. So their gin range is available by 250ml and 500ml decanters today. Purist martinis for all!

Deconstructed coffee is so last week. If you want to try something new head to Woods of Windsor (pictured) for a deconstructed gin and tonic flight. They will have Haymans Sloe Gin, Old Tom and Royal Dock paired with three tonics not yet found in Australia plus citrus. And if that’s not enough, there will be some special Rogue Society NZ gin cocktails happening tonight too.

Mr Miyagi‘s amazingly named Humpty Sumpter has developed his gin cocktail du jour. Named for one of the late musical greats, the Purple Rain is a berry Gin Fizz with Hendrick’s, blueberry liquer, apple schnapps and muddled fruit. We only want to see you bathing in this Purple Rain.
